Identity Theft

What mistakes did this woman make to have her identity stolen?

She avoided using credit cards whenever possible. So she ended up using her debit card for purchases big and small. That way, she has reasoned, she is spending money she actually has. When she wanted to indulge in a new purse or treat a friend to dinner or buy a latte, she would whip out the debit card.
Why do you feel ID Theft is such a common problem these days?
I feel identity theft is such a common problem because so many people give out there information for god knows what and not knowing what kind of person is taking their information. So you could be talking to someone on the phone about a house and you give your information for a loan, how do you know that the person you are talking to is the right person
What type of documents or personal belongings would someone have to obtain to steal a person’s identity? They would have to get the person’s credit card number, social security number, where they live, there full name, height, age, physical appearance (hair and eye color), phone number.
What are some ideas that you would suggest to someone to protect their identity from being stolen?
Some ideas I would give would be, don’t give out your information over the phone, don’t buy things online, and be careful what you talk about when you’re around other people.
Who do you think is to blame, the person stealing the identity, or the person who is not protecting themselves from identity theft? The person I would blame would definitely be the person who is not protecting themselves.
